OCZ Technology Group Company in the near future plans to start selling external flash drives are used to connect to a computer port USB 3.0.
Interface USB 3.0, also known as SuperSpeed USB, allows data transmission at speeds of up to 5 Gbps. This is about ten times more bandwidth USB 2.0, where the data transfer rate of up to 480 Mbps.
According to available information, the new flash drives OCZ will be implemented in a thin casing and fitted with microchips to eight flash memory NAND (capacitance not specified). Feeding devices able to receive directly on the bus USB; to connect to a PC will be used connector micro-USB.
It is expected that the SSD-OCZ drives with support for SuperSpeed USB interface will debut at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show CES 2010, which will be held in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA) from 7 to 10 January.
It should be noted that external drives with support for USB 3.0 already exist, although the mass introduction of this standard should be expected only in 2011. This is due partly to the fact that Intel has decided to postpone the implementation of the USB 3.0 interface support in their chipsets before the next decade.
